The Australian Cattle Dog is thought to be an intentional cross between a Collie, Dingo, Kelpie and Dalmatian. The puppies are born all white then develop the adult short dense coat in either red or blue. As a member of the Herding Group the AKC recognized the breed in 1980. Average size is 17 to 20 inches at the withers. Their ability to “problem-solve”, and their athletic build rates this breed very high for obedience, agility, herding, or as a valued family member.
